One of the newest vehicles in the Volkswagen lineup, the Atlas, showed off a new side of itself at the New York International Auto Show. The full-size Volkswagen SUV debuted its Cross Sport variation in concept form, and its design was striking. The style, performance, and plug-in nature of the Atlas Cross Sport Concept had everyone buzzing. The production version of the Atlas Cross Sport has been announced for 2020. Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Concept details
Production of the Atlas Cross Sport is expected to start in 2019 in Chattanooga, TN. The standard Atlas is the automaker’s largest SUV, but the Cross Sport version is actually 7.5 inches shorter. However, it does retain the same-sized wheelbase. This five-seated SUV is just another step into the future for Volkswagen.

As we alluded to above, the Cross Sport features a plug-in hybrid drive system. With two electric motors and a V6 gasoline engine, drivers will be able to enjoy 355 horsepower. Prospective buyers will also have the option of a conventional hybrid drive system powered by 310 horses. E-Mode is the all-electric system that the Cross Sport will always start out in. When in E-Mode, the vehicle’s driving power is totally supplied by the 114-horsepower electric motor. This SUV can also be driven in four other modes: Hybrid, GTE, Off-road, and Battery Hold/Battery Charge. Depending on your situational preferences, the Atlas Cross Sport has a driving mode for you. 4MOTION® Active Control also comes with varying driving profiles including On-road, Off-road, Sport, and Snow.
