Places to Find Authentic Irish Food for St. Patrick’s Day near Thousand Oaks, CA
With the coming of St. Patrick’s Day in a couple of weeks, you may start to have a hankering for shepherd’s pie or corned beef and cabbage. Some of us at Neftin Volkswagen have also started itching for those popular Irish dishes, so we decided to make a small list of nearby places to find authentic Irish food without having to drive all the way into the heart of Los Angeles.
If you’re looking to go out on St. Patrick’s Day for food, check out Crown and Anchor in town. Though it’s a British pub, they hold festivities on March 17th that’s good for the iconic corned beef and cabbage. Plus, you can enjoy yourself with a mix of green beer, bagpipes and Irish dancers on St. Patrick’s Day.
If you’re willing to drive out a little farther, Dargan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in downtown Ventura is a great option. With a spacious atmosphere and truly authentic menu, it’s a hard place to pass up. The restaurant also hosts live Irish music and performances by the Irish dancers from the local Claddagh School of Irish Dance multiple times a month. Stop in and check it out!
Going east, you might think about stopping at Sonny McLean’s, an Irish pub and restaurant in Santa Monica. On top of its list of classic pub food, they also plan to host “Shenanigan’s Celtic Band” on St. Patrick’s Day that’s worth a listen.
Found on Burbank Boulevard, Ireland’s 32 is a good spot for its warmth and hospitality. Named for the 32 counties in Ireland and open for over 50 years, they are keeping the Irish tradition alive. The place has a mixed menu of both Irish and American pub food and hosts live music. It’s a good spot if you’d like to celebrate with more than just food.
This is just a small list of some great local spots for authentic Irish food. But while you can satisfy your hunger during the St. Patrick’s Day season, we at Neftin Volkswagen hope you have a great experience.
