2018 Volkswagen Passat engine performance
The standard engine under the hood of the new Passat packs a good punch of 174 horsepower. The 2.0-liter TSI engine helps to produce 184 lb.-ft. of torque as well as up to 36 highway MPG. The TSI engine is turbocharged which gives the Passat a much quicker and more fun feel. Despite the car’s full-size sedan nature, you’ll feel like you’re driving a sports car—and that’s only with the standard engine.
If you’re willing to sacrifice a little bit of gas mileage, the 3.6-liter V6 engine will give you an even stronger, faster ride. With premium fuel, this motor can produce an impressive 280 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. This exhilarating engine will give you an even more powerful feel all while staying comfortable inside the roomy Passat. This will cost you about eight MPG, but if you like speed, It’s well worth it.
