3-Row Volkswagen Tiguan Release Date

New 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Expected to Include a Third Row of Seating

3-Row Volkswagen Tiguan Release Date

Many Volkswagen drivers have been waiting a long time for a 3-row SUV from Volkswagen. Though many may have guessed that the larger Touareg SUV would be the first to receive three spacious rows of seating, it appears it may actually be the 2017 Tiguan that receives a third row, and the 3-Row Volkswagen Tiguan release date may not be far off.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line exterior profile designIn March, Volkswagen announced that a 3-row Tiguan would begin production at its Puebla, Mexico plant near the end of 2016. Apparently $1 billion was invested into the plant to make this possible. Once production begins, this longer version of the Tiguan will roll out of the production facility at a steady pace of 500 units per day.

In addition, Volkswagen recently revealed a new Tiguan model for the Frankfurt International Auto Show. The model is only a European-spec Tiguan (all images display the European model), but Volkswagen stated that it would be longer than the previous generation Tiguan and that the Tiguan that would arrive in the U.S. would have an even longer wheelbase, making it ideal for that extra third row.

2017 VW Tiguan Engine Options

In addition to the obvious style changes, one of the big changes for the new Tiguan is a broader range of engine power, at least for the European model. The European Tiguan will offer gasoline and diesel engine options that deliver a range of power, which in specs that U.S. drivers will be familiar with, comes out to roughly 123 horsepower to 236 horsepower. Though the available engines for the U.S. model have not been revealed, we would not expect to see all eight arrive on our shores, so we will have to wait for further details.

2017 3-Row VW Tiguan U.S. Release Date

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan exterior No exact time of release for the U.S. 3-row Tiguan is known, but should it be offered with this new Tiguan, we would expect it to be part of the 2017 model year. Volkswagen has said that the longer Tiguan will be introduced to specific markets in the fall of 2016. Therefore, we have reason to suspect that this new Tiguan with a potential third row will be arriving right in time for the rest of the 2017 model year.

Though U.S. details are somewhat limited to speculation, the 3-row Volkswagen Tiguan release date is highly anticipated, as it is expected to provide even more spacious seating to an already exceptional model. Once more details are revealed, you will find them right here.
