VW MIB II Infotainment System Smartphone Pairing Features
Recently we shared the news of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI reveal, which highlighted exciting features to be expected, such as the MIB II infotainment system and the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. MIB II is supposed to be the latest infotainment tech from Volkswagen, and now we know that drivers will be able to see it in the GLI for the 2016 model year. In store is a host of VW MIB II infotainment system smartphone pairing features that will help drivers connect to the outside world like never before.
Of course, whenever you talk about smartphone pairing to vehicles these days, you have to mention Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Recently, we discussed the differences and benefits of the two interfaces, both of which are expected to arrive in Volkswagen models with the inclusion of the MIB II infotainment system.
Back in January, Volkswagen announced that the MIB II infotainment system would be arriving later this year. It was said that the new infotainment system would also include MirrorLink to allow for the integration of apps and operating layouts for a variety of smartphones. The announcement also mentioned that Android Auto and Apple CarPlay would also be launched alongside one another, with all systems falling under the App-Connect label. With Android Auto covering Android devices, Apple CarPlay assisting the connection of devices running iOS and MirrorLink allowing for the integration of a variety of other phones, smartphone pairing should be easier than ever inside a Volkswagen.
When exactly the VW MIB II infotainment system smartphone pairing features will arrive is still uncertain. But with the announcement of the 2016 Jetta GLI coming equipped with MIB II, hopefully we won’t have to wait long to experience it for ourselves. Until then, stay tuned to the Neftin Volkswagen blog for future updates and VW news.
