Volkswagen’s 2016 model year may not deliver any complete redesigns or major overhauls, but there are still some significant changes to be found. One model receiving some noticeable upgrades is the VW Golf. So, what is there difference between the 2016 and 2015 Volkswagen Golf? Let’s find out.

First of all, there is much that has stayed the same. Whether you drive off in a 2015 or 2016 Golf model, you’ll still get the same sporty and stylish design, with an upscale interior. The two models are both offered in the usual two-door or four-door varieties with a standard 170-horsepower engine.

When comparing the 2016 VW Golf vs 2015 VW Golf, there are some significant changes to be found in the area of infotainment. The 2016 model comes equipped with the brand new MIB II touchscreen infotainment system.

There certainly was nothing wrong with the 2015 VW Golf’s intuitive infotainment features, but the 2016 Golf does come with available VW Car-Net App-Connect. This new system integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy smartphone connectivity.

Even more significantly, perhaps, is the 2016 Golf’s updated Driver Assistance Package. This package now includes Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Park Steering Assistant and Park Distance Control. It is available on SE and Autobahn models.

    is there any difference between 2015 and 2016 over the exterior design? Also does the entry level (called trendline in Australia)and the high level(highline) share the same exterior design except for the wheels?
